October – Vicki Ryder
October 17, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Speaker and Vendor: Vicki Ryder of Songbird Yarn & Fibres
Vicki’s Bio:
I’ve always been interested in nature and caught the birding bug when my Mum was interested. We started doing it together at Rondeau and Point Pelee, learning as we went. I was really fortunate to be a part of the Stratford Field Naturalists where I rubbed elbows with some incredible birding experts. At the same time, I’ve always been a knitter and general crafter.
I’ve tried just about everything … craving challenges to learn new things (ceramics, stained glass, bird carving, quilting, spinning and weaving). Songbird Yarn & Fibres is a
pairing of my two passions. I can’t wait to share it with the Toronto
Knitters’ Guild.
My talk will be about birds we can see in Ontario…. pictures, bird
songs and a few interesting facts to give you the encouragement to
look up next time you’re out for a walk.
Products:
Vicki’s bird-inspired colourways are created on several bases. The most popular is her 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon Sock base which is a soft, plump fingering weight yarn suitable for many types of projects besides just socks.
She also has a 100% SW Merino Worsted weight and Lace weight, a sparkle sock and a small sample of combed top (available in any colourway but dyed to order).
You can see her colour ways online before the show. If people have a special request, they can message her ahead and she can bring specific colours with her.
Payment:
She takes Visa, MasterCard and cash at POS.
