Pay What You Wish / Pay It Forward model

The Board has decided to continue to offer a Pay What You Wish / Pay It Forward model for membership for the 2023-24 Guild year. As a result, discounts may be applied against the membership fee for those who require the assistance, and contributions may be made to the Guild by members who are financially able to assist at this time.

We ask that you consider your options and your situation carefully, and keep in mind that, while we are not renting physical space for our meetings, we still have to pay for use of the Zoom platform and technical support provided by Innis College. We are also still providing an Honorarium to our speakers.

Note that no matter which membership payment option you choose, there is only one class of membership – a Member – which gives you full access to the website portal, full voting privileges, a monthly Newsletter and other communications by email, and discounts at most local yarn stores.

New Memberships and Renewals

New Memberships and Membership Renewals can be purchased exclusively through this website. Your 2023-24 Memberships will be valid from date of purchase until September 30, 2024.

How to purchase your membership

Your Annual Membership can be purchased through this website with payment via PayPal or by credit card via Stripe.

Pay what you wish – for people who require assistance, we welcome you to apply a discount against the Annual Membership fee. Please choose a reduction that is sustainable for you at this time.

How to apply a discount – Once you have added the Annual Membership to your cart, you can enter a coupon code to reduce the cost. The codes are listed on the Annual Membership purchase page. Click on [APPLY CODE] to recalculate before you checkout and make your payment. It is essential that you complete the checkout process for your membership even if you are reducing the fee amount to a net value of $0.

How to “Pay it Forward” – During our survey, several members expressed concern about the financial health of the Guild, and expressed a desire to help. We are adding the Pay It Forward contribution option for those members who want to help support the Guild to offset the impact of potential reduced membership payments this year.

Your Pay it Forward Contribution may be made at the same time as you purchase your Annual Membership. The initial value has been set at $10. You can increase the value of your contribution by increasing the quantity that you add to your cart. A contribution of any amount is greatly appreciated by the Toronto Knitters Guild.

Membership registration – New Members Only

Once you have paid for your membership, you will be emailed a receipt for your payment in addition to a Welcome message from the Registrar that contains a link to complete your TKG membership registration. Please note that the emails may take up to an hour to appear in your inbox.

In order to register and gain access to the new Membership Portal (please see below), it is essential you click on the link in the email you receive from the Registrar (registrar@torontoknitterguild.ca) after your membership purchase. In addition to your email, we will ask you for your full street address so we have a complete membership list, in compliance with Corporation Canada requirements. Please know that we will not share your personal information at any time. This information will be stored with our Guild records and kept confidential.

Membership Renewal

For 2023-24 TKG members who wish to renew your membership, there is no need to set up your Membership Hub information again. Simply renew your membership and use the SAME email you use with the guild to complete your purchase and make payment. The TKG membership program will recognize your email and renew your membership for 2023-24.

Member Benefits

Monthly meetings

Your membership entitles you to attend monthly TKG meetings.

With the easing of restrictions on social gatherings, the Board has planned a virtual format for the fist half of the 2023-24 year, but is evaluating opportunities for hybrid and/or in person meetings. We will keep the membership up to date on any format changes.

There are 10 meetings annually from September to June, normally on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Planning for the current season is ongoing and details will be shared soon!

Membership Hub

We have created a Membership Hub on the website. This is where you will find links to the monthly meetings, recordings of previous meetings, other information provided by speakers, and anything else we think may be of exclusive interest to our Members. You must complete the membership registration process in order to login to the Membership Hub (please see above).

LYS Discounts

In addition to the meetings, your membership is your passport to savings at Toronto’s finest yarn stores on presentation of membership card. Discounts are normally offered on regularly priced yarn and merchandise. Discount amounts and conditions vary from store to store.

Your registration confirmation email will serve as confirmation of your membership for 2023-24.

Newsletter

Included with your membership, you will receive a Newsletter by email approximately 1 week prior to the monthly Guild meeting.
