November Meeting Speakers - Fiona Stevenson and Rose Tinapay
Canadian Knitwear Designer Fiona Stevenson and Indie Yarn Dyer Rose Tinapay, of Akara Yarns will be discussing the sources of their inspiration. Rose will reveal what inspires her beautiful yarn colours and Fiona will in turn chat about how Rose’s colourways inspire her knitwear designs.

They will discuss the importance of inspiration in the creative process, and where to you can find your own sparks of creativity.  No doubt that the conversation between these cheerful friends will spin off to include comments about fibre, yarn designs, and current projects. We are in for a treat with Fiona and Rose, so please join us for the fun.

Message from the Board: TKG AGM
We held our first Annual General Meeting since Incorporation on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 via the Zoom platform. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm, and was attended by over 50 members.

All motions passed, including accepting 4 new board members by acclamation. As board roles are still being finalized, we plan to introduce the full 2020-2021 board at the November 18 guild meeting.

The 2020 annual general meeting was adjourned at 8pm.

October Meeting Recap
The October meeting was a cozy and vibrant chat with knitting celebs Kate Atherley and Kim McBrien-Evans about their new book Custom Shawls. They toured the audience through their book, and the process of writing it, as well as a virtual trunk show of the shawls and their various construction processes.

It was a fascinating focus on shawl construction and the many, many ways knitters can create the shawls of their wildest imaginings with the information and tips contained in the book.
Recording of September Meeting
If you missed the September meeting or just want to re-watch the meeting and bask in the sunny vibes of meeting speaker Maria Curtosi of The Knitting Loft, you're in luck! The recording of the meeting is now available via the Membership Hub. Click the link below to log in and access the meeting recording.

Update from the LYS Program - Know before you Go
The LYS owners in the TKG discount program, like almost everyone else, are having a tough time these days. Please support them if you can, but please first check the TKG website to see if any of their information (e.g., opening status, address, discount policy) has changed.

They know about the new membership "cards" (i.e., email confirmations) that TKG members are receiving this year in lieu of physical cards; if you wish to use the member's discount when shopping, especially online, you may find that there are some extra steps involved. Again, please do your homework and be patient, and if you have any difficulty please let us know at partnerships@torontoknittersguild.ca.
Virtual Knit Nights
A number of people have told us they are really missing the social aspect of the guild meetings and have  expressed a desire to connect with fellow knitters and crocheters on a regular basis.

If you are part of a group who regularly meets online and would welcome other knitters, would you please contact editors@torontoknittersguild.ca with your group's timing and contact details? We would like to post available groups within the Members Only Portal.
Stay connected with TKG!
If you're missing the in-person chatter of monthly meetings there are a few ways to keep connected with the Guild and other members! Join the TKG Ravelry Group (Link leads to Ravelry.com) and show off your latest FOs in the TKG Spotlight Thread (link leads to Ravelry.com).

There is also a Facebook page where updates from the guild and LYSs are shared. The Instagram page (@torontoknittersguild) also has frequent updates and content from the guild, local events and more!
