Announcements

  • This year's TTC Knitalong is scheduled for Sat Aug 22 (later than usual because of the Pan Am Games). Registration begins on Sat June 20. See the blog for more details.  
     
  • New stores added! 3 new yarn stores are offering discounts to our memembers: Alpaca Avenue, Signature Yarns, and Wool-Gathering. Full details are here
     
  • We are in the process of arranging the programme for 2015/16. Any suggestions for topics to be covered, or comments should be directed to programme@torontoknittersguild.ca
     
  • Better Living Through Stitching Together! Save the Date! Sunday July 5th from 8-11pm. We have been invited to join members of the Fringe Festival in Toronto for a “Stitch + Bitch” sessions during the 2015 festival. More details will be posted on the  Guild website when available.

Carol Milne took us on a fabulous journey through her process for creating knitted glass sculpture. While few of us will be launching into the world of sculpture, it was inspiring to see this re-imagining of our craft.

The Arts of Knitting – Transcending Yarn
The presentation by Nadine McLeod will provide an inspirational look at the popularity of knitting and how it has impacted our pattern choices, pop culture, home fashions and the art world.
Nadine is a freelance knitting designer who is inspired by texture, natural fibers, the hand and drape of yarn, and beaded embellishments.
